Der Use Case stellt den Datenfluss für eine Druckverlustberechnung einer Lüftungsanlage dar. Der Use Case unterstützt den Facility Manager und Planer bei der Aufgabe, die geplante Ventilatorleistung sowie die zu erwartende Änderung im Jahresstrombedarf abzuschätzen. .ifc-Daten aus der Planung zu Lüftungskomponenten werden aus einem CAD-Programm in eine BIM-Software (SIMULTAN) eingelesen. Die Komponenten werden mit ihren erforderlichen Parametern in der Software abgebildet. In einem Plugin der Software wird eine Druckverlustberechnung für den Anlagenzustand vor und nach der Umbaumaßnahme durchgeführt. Die Überprüfung erlaubt die Entscheidung, ob eine Überarbeitung der Planung erforderlich ist oder eine Freigabe erfolgen soll. Mit Variantenbildungen kann eine Energieoptimierung (Leistung, Bedarf) durchgeführt werden.
