    Description

Update 22.11.2024: Version 1.1 has been released

Update 25.04.2024: Version 1.2 IDS extension has been added/elements and properties have not been changed

The use case openBIM building permit procedure of the City of Vienna describes the exchange information requirements for the openBIM submission to the City of Vienna. This information requirement applies to the builder's architectural model - hereinafter referred to as the building application model (BAM) - which is used in the course of the pilot operation for the openBIM building permit procedure of the City of Vienna Building Police. This is an officially published exchange information requirement of the City of Vienna, which is based on the information requirement of the BRISE-Vienna research and development project. It should be noted that the enclosed information requirement represents a development status and that further development (adaptation/addition/reduction) is planned in the course of pilot operation (see version number and revision list).
The information requirement describes all IFC element classes required in the building application models in their level of detail. The information requirement depth (LOIN) is defined here.

    • Level of Geometry (LOG): The LOG describes the geometric information level (modelling method) of a model element depending on the element class used.
    • Level of Information (LOI): The LOI describes the alphanumeric level of information of a model element depending on the element class used.

The LOI and the selection sets of the element classes, including details of the value type, the value unit and the location, are listed below in xlsx, pdf and ids formats:
(Update 1.2 NOTDEFINED has been removed from the IDS)

    • Information requirements-PDF
    • Information requirements-xslx
    • Information requirements-IDS

    (Update 1.2) IDS extension:

The working group is continuously working on further exploiting the potential of IDS - with the aim of not only enabling formal checks, but also implementing simple logical checks directly within the native software.  The first IDS extension that takes logical dependencies into account has now been published below. The properties and entities used remain identical to the previous version; only the dependency relationships have been added:

    • Information requirements-Extended-IDS
    • Information requirements-Extended-xslx

The IDS was generated using the openSource IDS4All converter (Website, github).

The classification requirements of the IFC specification apply in principle; the element classes and their characteristics must be filled according to the specifications of buildingSMART/IFC data structure in accordance with ISO 16739.
ÖNORM A 6241-2 must be observed with regard to the modelling of building application models. The IFC versions IFC2x3 and IFC4 Add2 TC1 are permitted for the creation of the BAM. The LOI requirements are based on ISO 16739:2024.
